Hi, I'm Amanda!  As a lover of food and my family, I started cooking dinner every Sunday night, as well as many other treats throughout the week.  I come to you bearing recipes that I have been inspired to make from my countless hours watching and reading about cooking.  It's a way that my family comes together to make fun and crazy memories!  I hope to spread this message and inspire other students to express themselves as well.

Pinch of This Origins

Now, you may be wondering why my cooking blog is named "Pinch of This".  But it's simple-- you see, when I cook I tend to add a 'pinch of this and a pinch of that' to each dish to make it my own.  Many of my recipes were derived straight out of my brain, which has been influenced by an assortment of sources, from celebrity chefs on Food Network or the Cooking Channel, to upscale and gourmet restaurants in New York City, or even from recipes that I have gathered though family and friends.  Cooking for me is not always following a recipe to the T, but rather experimenting on your own to find the perfect combination of ingredients that'll make you go 'ahh'.  The recipes that I post usually contain measurements, but these can always be adjusted to suit every tastebud and preference.  I started cooking for my family during my middle school years and have always been in the kitchen helping my mom and grandma with dinner-- whether it be chopping up the vegetables for our meal or just standing by watching them cook.  I started a tradition of cooking Sunday dinner, and it has sprouted into sharing it online.
