Surprise! I'm going to start a new "series" on this food blog dedicated to the food that I eat when I'm not cooking! I've done two reviews so far (Columbia's farmers market and NYC restaurant week) and am looking to expand this section. So, here's the third installment: Prime Taco in Ridgefield, CT. If you're not from the area, you probably don't know of its sister eatery, Prime Burger. These two restaurants are located pretty close to each other, about a 5 minute car ride in the beautiful town of Ridgefield. Here, you'll find streets lined with restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques aimed to serve the local community.
Among the restaurants, Prime Taco was getting a lot of buzz, so I decided to try it out. The room is fully of energy-- it's a funky take on Mexican food. After a long decision making time, I decided to try out the seared pork belly taco and the roasted pork and pineapple taco. Yum!
The seared pork belly has: pickled jalepeno, guacamole, onion, cilantro, and a chipotle crema. It definitely had a kick to it and the flavors were well balanced. The roasted pork and pineapple taco has: pickled onion, habanero salsa, cilantro, and a lime crema. I really enjoyed the pineapple in this taco; it gave the savoriness a little sweet and rounded out the meal.
If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend checking out Prime Taco! It's a kid friendly (and adult friendly) eatery that's fun and delicious!
