The famous senior year has arrived! While this summer is all about internships and preparing for endless AP classes, traveling to visit colleges is also added to the list. I recently traveled to Chicago, IL to visit some universities and decided to check out the food scene!
Hyde Park is the neighborhood surrounding UChicago, which makes it a great place for college students to visit. We chose to try out The Promontory, a farm to table restaurant. We were served immediately and everyone was very nice! The restaurant itself was very rustic but chic at the same time. The menu was on the small side, but felt well curated. But, one of my favorite parts was their open kitchen. You could watch the chefs prepare everyone's meal, which great as you felt that you were part of the experience.
I decided to go with the classic fried chicken and waffles. The other plate pictured here is the hot turkey brown, an open faced turkey sandwich topped with an egg. The portion sizes were huge, but everything was delicious. I especially loved the crunch of the chicken as well as the tender meat inside.
If you attend UChicago or live in the area, I would definitely recommend checking it out!
