Katonah Reading Room: Katonah, NY

Located just around the corner from the Katonah train station is a quaint café serving up fresh breakfast and lunch options. The Katonah Reading Room gives me all the cozy fall vibes that I would ever want. Walls lined with gourmet pantry staples and cookbooks welcome all diners in.

The menu ranges from pastries and toasts for the morning to salads and sandwiches come lunchtime. They also have wonderful coffee and tea options.

My friend and I ordered the bánh mì sandwich, avocado toast, and fries. The sandwich was packed full of different flavors. Tender pork bathed in an umami-packed marinade, pickled carrot and radish, grassy cilantro, and spicy mayo paired perfectly in the crisp but soft bread. The avocado toast is a classic at the Katonah Reading Room. The trendy toast was topped with olive oil, rainbow radish, and flaky salt and was the perfect afternoon treat. We split the ginormous $4 basket of fries. They were delicious. The piping hot and crisp-on-the-outside but soft-on-the-inside quality made me want to devour the whole order.

Katonah Reading Room also sells a plethora of local items ranging from honey lavender goat cheese to maple syrup. The collection of cookbooks in the café as well as in the upstairs store further focuses in on the cozy environment perfect for foodies.
